BOISE, ID - The Boise Hawks, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, release the Hawks' 2010 field staff. Former big league catcher, Jody Davis will skipper the Hawks. Davis' tenure marks only the second time Boise has been managed by a former Major Leaguer since Darrel Thomas in the late eighties.

  • In 1984 Davis set a career high with 94 RBI and earned his first All-Star selection as the Cubs won the National League's Eastern Division title.
  • Managed the Peoria Chiefs in (2006), the Daytona Cubs in (2007-2008) leading them to a League Championship with a 73-59 record, and the Calgary Outlaws of the Canadian Baseball League leading them to a 24-13 record during the league's only season (2003).

Casey Kopitzke, the Hawks' 2009 Manager, will manage the Single-A Peoria Chiefs in 2010.

Former major league pitcher Jeff Fassero takes over as the Hawks' pitching coach. In his 16-year career Fassero spent time with Montreal (1991-96), Seattle (1997-99), Texas (1999), Boston (2000), the Cubs (2001-02), St. Louis (2002-03), Colorado (2004), Arizona (2004) and San Francisco (2005-06).

Ricardo Medina returns as the hitting coach for the Boise Hawks after holding the same position in Boise last year and coaching in the Dominican Summer League. Ricardo has been a coach, manager or scout for the Cubs organization since 1999.

Aaron Larsen rounds out the Hawks' 2009 field staff as he begins his first season as Boise's athletic trainer.
